Hi,

O.k., since something like this happened before and it wasn't a dead alt I
thought I'd get a second opinion this time...

Last week the ignition light started "winking" while I was driving. The
light was coming on as normal when I turned the key at startup and when I
tested that alt's output at the brown wire that goes into the fusebox it was
14.3 volts so I figured that I had a bad connection or a loose ground that
I'd chase down this weekend.

Yesterday while coming home from work the light came on and stayed on. I
test the brown alt wire again and this time it's 12.3 volts.

Last time something like this happened I had a bad connection. So I cleaned
the plug on the back of the alt, the connections at the starter relay and
the fuse box and the battery connections.

Still 12.3 volts, and I've noticed that the ignition light no longer is
coming on when I turn the key. In fact the ignition light doesn't come on at
all..

So, should I pronounce this alt deceased or do some more fault testing?

Any suggestions appreciated,

Scott Allen
