1) IME, low carb oil will not affect an engine except when trying to
accelerate. Then the carbs don't richen up enough and the engine may
miss.
2) Are you trying to overfill? The oil should only come up to just
below the steel piston spindle or guide. When the brass dampener is
dropped in it should immediately fall down to about 1/2 inch of being
able to screw it in. You would have to push the dampener down the last
1/2 inch in order to screw it on.
3) What goes up must come down? When the carb piston rises it does so
slowly as the brass dampener is intended to retard the rise. But the
dampener is supposed to also let the piston down quickly. Thus it's a
one way valve. If the valve is malfunctioning when the piston drops it
could conceivably pump the oil up into the area where the piston guide
is, to be sucked between the steel piston guide and the chamber and then
down into the carb throat. So, are the components of the dampener
assembled correctly?
