Oliver,
Oil level is pretty important in these units, as oil provides the
pressure to push the clutch to engage OD and to lubricate everything.
Check it, fill to "Full" if needed, and see how the OD operates.
Those things you mentioned are not good news, but they could be related
to low oil level.
