Leave well enough alone.

Mine is stored at a friends. The battery is in place, disconnected (quick
disconnect). It has moth balls and a plug in the tail pipe (bright red) to
keep critters from crawling up in there.  And a car cover over it. It got a
bath shortly before storage.
