Hi Gary. I enjoy the research. I've seen 302's advertised from school buses
and military  trucks. I talked to the guy who rebuilt my Scout V-345 engine,
and he tells me that it costs almost twice as much to rebuild a 302 as a 292.
Of course, he replaces just abt every thing but the block, head, crankshaft,
connecting rods, and that's abt it. So you might as well update as many parts
as you can if you rebuild one. I would probably do most of the disassembly and
assembly myself. I rebuilt an IH V-345 several years ago, but that engine is
different from any other. Nuf said. I'd want to keep the engine an inline six;
at least a GM product (292), preferably the GMC 302.  Bob K in PHX
