I've seen a magazine article that details the differences between the two or
three Chevy starters and how they match up. If I remember what I read
corrected you have a flywheel and starter mismatch. One of the two is
smaller and has a different tooth count. I'd guess you need the bellhousing
and flywheel to match the earlier motor, but I may not remember the details
correctly.

If you don't get a fuller answer from someone ping me later and I'll find
that magazine article...

hi there i need help bad
i just put a 1970 350 and a 84 5 speed from a camaro together for a project
truck and cant seem to get a starter to fit
the tranny was on a 305 that had a small starter with a straight across bolt
design and will not fit the 350
i bought a new 350 starter with the offset bolt pattern and it will not bolt
up because the head of it is too big for the bell housing so now i have a
small high torque starter that will not fit because of the wrong bolt
pattern
and a new 350 starter with the right bolt pattern but it seems the head of
it
is too big
can someone please help me????
is there a difference between std and auto starter for 350
has anyone had this problem befor?
thanks
mike
