While use for 2", 3" etc mics are not extreamly common unless you
are doing a lot of engine rebuilding, a 1" mic. is almost invaluable.
I was for ever using the mics. at my Dad's place. Several years ago
he gave a 1" mic. and a thread pitch guage as an Xmas present. The
mic. came with it's own wooden storage box. I store my thread pitch
guage in the box with the mic.
My dad as a mic. he's have since he was about 20. I really like it
as it has all the conversions (for 1/8s, 1/16s, 1/32s and 1/64s of
an inch on its face).
Unfortunately, mine doesn't have this feature. What I did, was made
a chart, printed it and shurnk it on a copy machine until it would
fit on the cover of my mic's box. Then I taped it to the box and
covered it entirly with Scotch tape to protect it from the grease
and getting torn. Now I have everything I need in one box (place).
To save on bandwidth, I'm not including the chart. However, if any
one is too lazy to make one up, drop me some email, and I'll send
you the chart.
Don't know how anybody lives with out a 1" mic.
