Mark,

   I wasn't familuar with the 88.  The bells and whistles sound great.
However, I have several dwell/tach meters.  The can be had for under $50.
Then throw less than $100 for a general purpose DMM and maybe another
$50 for an analogue meter and you can still pocket over $200.

  That's like the timing light my mech. friend has.  There are buttons
on the handle to let you advance and retard the spark.  But I can look
at the 2 pointers with my timing light for a lot less money.  In fact,
I could probably afford to get a new pair of glasses so I could see the
timing marks for the difference in my DC powered, inductive coupled,
timing light.
