Volvo antifreeze is supposed to have little to none of the bad stuff and
extra good stuff. How's that for techie talk. A complete explanation
would take several pages. Most of the Euro manufactures have a similar
spec for antifreeze. It is supposed to protect the light metal
components of the engine better and preserve the rubber parts better,
and yada, yada, yada.
Most of the Euros get their antifreeze from the same company, Pentosin,
and just give it a different color and mark it up %200. So you can also
shop the SAAB, BMW or Mercedes stores for the best price, or you can
order the stuff without a car brand from these guys

I've found.
If you are not too concerned with having Nth degree protection and you
routinely flush and fill the system go with Prestone Long Life which has
the same amount of bad stuff and a little more good stuff than
Prestone's regular antifreeze.
I think have some posts saved from a gin-u-wine Chrysler cooling system
engineer who explains a lot about the Euro specs for antifreeze. If you
