For my small projects around the beach cabin, I purchased an "Odd Job" 
concrete mixer. This is simply a five-gallon (approx) plastic bucket 
with a gasketed screwed-down lid. There are strakes molded into the 
interior sides.

Combine a bag of premix and water (the lid is a measure), screw on the 
lid, and roll the device over to where you want to pour. Fifteen seconds 
of rolling completes the mixing. It's simple, effective, easy to clean, 
and cheap. Home Depot has them for about $25.00.

My friend the retired construction superintendent was very impressed. I 
thought he'd laugh at it.
