Another thing I've done to these damn things when I can't find the 
right tool (ever seen a seven pointed star bit, let alone one with a 
hollow center?) to get them off is to cut a slot in them with a 
Dremel and a cut-off wheel, and then use a plain old fashioned flat 
screwdriver on them.  The screws are normally replaced with something 
less satanic.  This works well on the screw heads that can only be 
tightened, as well.  Obviously doesn't work well with flush fasteners.
