Dynamat (sound deadening) substitute?

A long time ago, I remember this list had discussed some alternatives to Dynamat
for sound deadening in a car.  I thought the material was some thing from 
McCarr,
or one of the large mail order places.  Now that I need to get some, I can't 
recall
what it was, and can't find it in the archives....  Does anyone happen to 
remember
what this material was and where it was from?
