Rear baggers are inherently limited in their ability to work. They
utilize the faint air pressure created by the spinning blades under the
deck to push the grass up the tube. The longer the tube, or the higher
the rise, the more prone to clogging they are. The sharpness of the
turn at the deck where the tube joins also has a strong impact on the
ability of the bagger to work.
Most of the time, they work best on small mowers where the distance is
short and the grass thrown out is minimal. They also work best on
trimming, where the cut grass is small. A frequent mowing with a little
Snapper and bagger will work, but infrequent mowings with a Cub Cadet
will generally result in clogs.
The sweepers that you pull behind do work, but they also fill up and
aren't the most convenient for dumping if you've got a large lawn. You
get a grass mountain going in short order, and that becomes quite the
chore to deal with. Since the sweeper is a trailer, all the inherent
limitations of pulling a trailer apply. Going backwards, maneuvering
around trees, etc.
2 acres? Sounds like a good excuse to buy some sheep.
