Thanks everyone.=C2=A0 I ordered a few 7805 fixed regulators from the auct=
ion site. $2. Hopefully it gets to me in the usual 21 days.=C2=A0 The appli=
cation is an old amplified Bazooka tube. The output specs are relatively lo=
w, so if the parts don't work, I am positive I can get one of the generic $=
12-$15 amp boards to drive the single woofer in the tube. I will not pay $9=
9-$125 for a replacement amp.=C2=A0=C2=A0
@Pat, yeah, I ordered similar micro farad replacement cap as the one next t=
o it and I did that before I posted. If it blows up the replacement, then I=
will go with the higher voltage, but the limit to spend is $5 in parts. Af=
ter that, I'll go with an amp board.=C2=A0

Actally, you can make it an adjustable regulator but if you are going to or=
der something you may as well get a 317 which is designed for this.=C2=A0 P=
lus the data sheet will give you hints on how to do this.

They list multiple models of that chip. The one I think is closest is...htt=

because of the variable output.=C2=A0 The amp does have level/volume pot on=
it. The other datasheets in the list do not show a variable output.
