Hello listers,
Its me again. I have a 1980 spitfire. I replaced the starter as most replies
had stated to do (The bendix was shot). However when I had finished putting
the new one in all I would get is a click. Tried jumping a cable direct to
starter still nothing (but sparks). Took out new starter and tried directly
connecting to battery and it spins. Starter ok? Someone had suggested that
the is a spacer missing. A look at the spot where the starter mounts and it
looks like a gasket should be there. Is that the telltale signs that I'm
missing the spacer? The old starter is already gone so I don't have anyway to
tell if there was one on it before. Do any of you have one that you don't
need. If so please email with details. Also if anyone can think of anything
else I am forgeting please help
TIA
Nikki
