Rick,

On my 78 spit that I am restoring, I have that same piece. Mine is mounted
on the bottom bolt of the alternator and attaches to the wiring harness at
this point. I distinctly remember this because:
1) I just changed out the alternator.
2) It was in the way when I changed the oil filter.

Now I am not exactly sure that this is the original position, as the
previous owner didn't stay exactly spec on his mods. If you do not get a
better answer, email me back and I'll trace out the wires tomorrow and tell
you to/from they go.

Bill

Hi All!

I'm still putting all the pieces together on my spitfire but I have a
target date of this Saturday to finally get it running (after 6 months!)

I have this leftover electronic piece that I think is a regulator of
some sort to stablize charging voltage at the battery. I'm having a
hard time using the hayes manual electrical diagrams, however, to
figure out where exactly this piece goes.

If you don't mind, click this url and take a look:

(I may be off base here)

Any ideas on where exactly in my ignition system I should wire this
baby in?

Also... (I have wired the coil to receive 12 volts at cranking and 6
volts while running using the resistance wire I found on the car ... I
think this is what my Hayes manual says is right ... but the manual
leaves a lot to be desired on clarity) Does this sound correct?

Thanks,
--Rick
