Spitsters,

Earlier this week, there was a discussion about the new
DieHard battery. I have some information about it. From
Automotive Industries (trade publication):

A Battery Good for Starts and Stops

Sears retailers now have a battery that's equally good at stopping
cars as it is starting them. The DieHard Security battery includes a
built-in anti-theft system - a drop-in solution for people who bought
their vehicle without a factory-installed anti-theft system or whose
original system has stopped working. The battery, which is manu-
factured for Sears by Johnson Controls Inc., comes with a key fob
remote unit to arm the system. If someone tries to hot-wire or
push-start the vehicle with the system armed, the battery automati-
cally cuts power output below that needed to start the vehicle.
After four unauthorized start attempts, the battery shuts down
completely. If the remote is lost, the owner can enter a code into
the battery control panel to disarm the system. The battery also has
a storage node that cuts power without having to disconnect the cables.
Suggested price is $169.99, about $70 more than a regular DieHard.

Cheers,
