Hi Trevor
A black art indeed! Plus I actually like doing them (but for around $500!)
<grin>
BTW do you need any more OD trannies for the spits?

  Insurance insurance insurance.

  Most accidents involve "things at the front" and most insurance
payouts just look it up and write a check.

  I suspect almost all bumpers, bonnets, and fenders sold
by these guys are sold to body shops doing insurance work.

  The spitfire is a little "special" because the way the
bonnet and fenders are one, but is a Midget fender worth
$599 US? I had six in my basement I couldn't give away.

  Perhaps, but a transmission is lot easier to work on DIY
than
a differential.

  If you are careful and have basic tools, you can strip and
rebuild a tranny. Not so with a differential, setting the gear
mesh is a bit of a black art.
