Richard,
That is because the US got the 1500 2 years before the home market did.  On 
early 1500's there was no single way they were badged. 
Some had a MkIV metal plate and some had both a MkIV plate and one that said 
1500.  Later on, Triumph went to the decals and by 1975
when the rest of the world got the 1500 model, the decals were in place.
