Barry, sorry to hear this, and I've never heard of it either.

Question though.  You said you'll "have to polish the thing out".  Maybe
I'm just stupid, but I've never heard of a way to polish scratches,
chips, or even "acid bug etchings" out of glass.  Can you expand on this
a little?  What are you using to polish it out?
