Ok, thanks for your thoughts, everyone. A couple that I'll be pursuing,
such as making my own rods out of suitable material, or using Vaseline (not
sure on this one, I can see it getting a little messy trying to re-apply
periodically).
As for the suggestion of not leaving the car out in the rain - I spent all
that money on a tonneau cover specifically so that I *can* leave the car out
in the rain!!!

A strange subject to be discussing in the middle of winter, I know, but....
The rods which attach the sun visors on my car to the windscreen frame have
siezed up due to rust. My theory is that this is caused by leaving the car
outside in the rain, with the tonneau cover on, during what we Brits
laughably call "summer", for the last couple of years. I've spent a while
looking for replacements at the various shows I've been to over the past 12
months (admitedly not as many as I'd have liked), and every single sun-visor
that I've seen for sale has been in even worse condition than mine,
suggesting that I'm not the only person whose sun-visors are suffering from
the rain. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy some brand
new visors and mounting bars - a little expensive, but it can't be helped.
My question is this: when I get my new sun-visors and , is there anything I
can do to them to stop them and the mounting bars from going rusty?
