How to do it:

Go to the Wix filter lookup site
http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/index.asp I recommend Wix
because it includes Triumphs and other rather obscure vehicles, and
gives all the information you need. Here's a 1980 Triumph Spitfire 1500
http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/index2.asp?Section=1&Make=77&SubMake=&Model=912&SubModel=2350&Engine=&Year=1980&TempSection=1&TempMake=77&TempModel=912&TempEngine=&TempSubModel=2350&TempYear=1980

You'll see the oil filter part number listed, click it for details
about the filter. You'll see it's the standard 3/4-16 thread fitting,
and the rest of the info about the gasket, shell size, and valves.
Print it or copy it.

Do this for each vehicle you've got.

Now go to the Baldwin site. http://catalog.baldwinfilter.com/ Click
on catalog info, sub size chart. That will bring up a .pdf document of
all the filter specifications.
http://catalog.baldwinfilter.com/oring.pdf if you don't want to
explore. Starting on page five of that document you find the filters
listed, sorted by thread size. Mid way down page five it starts the 3/4
x 16, and continues through most of page 6. All of those filters will
thread up to a Spitfire, and most of them will seat on the engine boss.
Spend some time comparing gasket dimensions and specifications for some
close matches to your application(s). If you look at your engine, you
can see how close the current gasket comes to the edge of the boss to
know how much extra room you've got.

Take the Baldwin part number(s) and cross it back over to the filter
manufacturer of your choice.
