I have had 2 a 75 and a 78 which currently has 70,000 miles I rebuilt it 
about 65,000 but had no problems prior (it was burning oil, needed rings 
so I did the whole thing) But I have never had a problem with the heads. 
I am not sur you you got bad ones or I got good ones???
