Doug,  probably best to use the number on the registration, have plates made
and be done with it.  BUT, curiosity would kll me so I'd use whatever numbers
you have, ie:  axle, gear box, and get a Heritage certificate.  That would at
least tell you what engine and chassis number originally went with those
parts.  Forget about the number thats stamped near the scuttle by the flashing
relay in engine compartment.  This number is not relavent to the exact car
number and Heritage certificate doesn't have records based on that stamping.
