I have fitted an RC40 with both boxes as they came on a MkIV Sprite with a lot
of difficulty. I had the second box sited at the rear of the car with the
tail pipe exiting from the box level with the bumber iron bracket.

However, for the last couple of installations (I have been using the RC40 for
10 years+) I have just used the back box.

As far as noise levels go, unless you have a fire breathing engine with a 286
cam or longer it shouldn't be too bad though obviously the term noisy is
relative to each individual.

I think I must have said it before and will say it again. Look up the
flowbench figures in Vizard for the RC40 and see if you can find anything else
to match it.

Flow bench figures aside, assuming the engine in your Spridget doesn't make
such big hp that it needs the best exhaust ever I would still go for the RC40
because not only is it cheap (at least in the UK) but is a whole lot quieter
than a lot of other exhaust silencers that really rob power (and I've heard a
lot, usually on Minis).
