Just a thought:

On the 1500 Midgets, a coolant line runs off of the main circuit (I
don't recall where) to a T fitting, with one side of the T going to
bypass, and the other going to a firewall mounted valve which leads to
the heater core. The return Line from the heater core also goes to a T
fitting (at the other end of the bypass).

________ ___________
ENGINE |_________|valve|_______|HEATER CORE|
BLOCK | |______________ | |
________|__________________|____|___________|

If the valve is open, coolant goes through both the heater core and the
bypass, if it's closed, it all goes through the bypass.

It seems to me you could rig up something pretty easily using the 1500
style valve and a couple of T fittings.
