I have a (LCB?) header that has a bad crack problem. I don't know who made
it or how old it is, got it used. It has cracked twice recently. The first
crack was welded shut successfully using gas. The second crack is about an
inch above the first weld. The steel is crystallized and extremely brittle.
I'm thinking that I can rescue it by heating it to a glowing red with a gas
torch then letting it cool slowly.
Any thoughts on that ? or not?
How about header wrap? Even though this takes the header temp higher, won't
it allow is to cool slower?
preventing this crystallization?

Going to Dixon Ca. sans sprite this weekend. Will be properly attired and
hoping to find a header,
