In my 77 Midget I just put in the engine, re-installed all the components
except the altenator, and put back in the gas tank. When I tried
to start the car I could see that the fuel filter was not getting
any gas. So I replaced the fuel pump. Still no gas. Yes I put
about 3 to 4 gallons in the tank and it did not leak out. So now
I check the fuel lines. None are clogged. I then blew air into
the gas tank from the fuel line at the fuel pump. I could not
hear the air bubbling up though the gas, but I could fell the
air coming out the fuel filler nozzel. Now I am beginning to
think the pick up tube in the tank has a hole in it or has broken
off. I will look in the tank tomorrow when I get a smaller
inspection mirror. Has anyone else had a failure like this?
Is my reasoning sound? Oh yeah, this tank was fine last fall.

Thanks,

Bill Gilroy
77 Midget
