Andy,the other day you said something about a tunnel being built around
Melbourne.I mentioned that to a Canadian co-worker and he was curious as to
were that tunnel might be going to,Tasmania possibly? The reason for his
interest is that there has beeen some talk of building a tunnel to Vancouver
from B.C. (were he's from),but it's never seemed feasible.Was just curious,TIA
for the reply,Some LBC content now,had my wifes car (68 Sprite) making a noise
on me the other day,so while adding oil I started checking pulleys and sure
enough the water pump was out,not leaking yet but getting close to that
point.No problem,I have parts from about 4-5 donors in my shed.Got the pump and
crawled under the car to remove the plug from the radiator(this was an
aftermarket add on from the DPO).The plug required a little bit of
Squaw-He-Tuss(Texas redneck for tourque)and I'll be damned if that thing didn't
come completly out of the radiator,mount and all.No worries,back to the shed
for a radiator (the proper one this time),the hoses and crossover tube all
needed because the old setup had been different.The DPO's mechanic had made his
own lower radiator hose by making a copper T of his own design,which involved
using about the first 2 1/2" of the copper tube that goes from your lower
hose,beside your valve cover and back to your heater.BACK TO THE SHED!?
Needless to say over three hours later the car was reassembled and back in the
road with the proper cooling system.Guess what,it stayed cooler with the
original stuff than with the DPO's set-up.I guess his access to the proper
parts was more limited than mine,as when I bought his Sprite he had half a
parts car,but I guess some folks have none.
Any way that's my tale told by the potbelly,point being,with an LBC if it can
get worse,count on it,and that ratty old rusty piece of junk that you can give
100 bucks for,get it.I've had parts now for 5 years and never once regreted
having to store them! I figure I saved a bit of change this way,Me Tight,but
more importantly,The Sprite is back on the road now,not NEXT weekend!Well,I'm
off to wash the car and cruise a bit,Adios,Brad
