The process involves machining (cutting) a ring or groove around the
combustion chamber on the head.  Then placing a wire "O-ring" into the cut
which protrudes above the surface of the head.  When the head is torqued
down, additional force is placed, via the wire ring, atop the head gasket,
ensuring a better seal.
