in answer to the question if you put power on 86 then you will have a short
as 86 is the ground for the relay also, mount the relay and then check the
resistance of 86 to the chassis. if it is the ground for the relay it should
read 0 ohms or close to it so if you hook up the hot wire to it you will
positively short out the hot as in sparks and the smoke will get out of the
wire.
