The cover on my '79 1500 was an orange-red before I rebuilt the engine. 
Dupli-Color makes a wide variety of engine paints, and you should be able
to find what you need there at your local MegaloAutoMart.

Chevy use two shades of red-orange; one pre-74 (I think) more of a red,
and one post-74 until about 1980, more of an orange.  Chrysler-Plymouth
also used an orange red on its 60's and early 70's engines.  Of these, I
think the Chrysler color was probably closest to the  color on the Midget
(of course, I am basing this on an at best faulty memory).  However,
using one of the Chevy colors is guaranteed to add 20 HP, a 30 degree
temp drop, 15 lbs of oil pressure increase, and attract 50% more of the
opposite sex....
