I was thinking more about the way the fuel gets centrifuged outwards during
turns and the effect that will have on the float level if the bulk of the
float is on one side of the jet instead of in front/behind.  I looked on
page 69 of Mr. Vizards' book (See, I knew it would come in useful some day)
and it looks like the HIF6 and HIF44 are nearly identical.  Are 44mm the
same as 1 3/8 inches?  Burlen now handle SU stuff at Salisbury and have been
most helpful in the selection of carbs for my pre-war MG.  Their catalogue
covers almost every car fitted with SU ever built.  I think the website is
