OK...as usual I just can't keep my mouth shut..on fingers still, or

I for one agree with the premise that we need the Mosses of the world. Some,
perhaps the majority of LBC owners are not the enthusiast that many on this
list are. They only want a part to make the cute little care go, and
probably are not buying it themselves, but from a repair facility...and if
they are comparing the Moss cost to that of any American car repair at a
dealer...they may think they've gotten a deal.
I feel we all benefit from this. Moss being sucessful has to encourage some
other suppliers to enter the business and to see that we will go elsewhere
for better, more original, nos, or just cheaper parts. I think they help
keep the sport alive by being sucessful and bringing more people into it.
Many of us use the Moss catalog for reference when shopping for parts
elsewhere.
If there were no market for Spridget parts, like there is none for Fury parts
(hey I like 'em too, but I'm wierd)..then the suppliers would not be
there...simple economics.
Also, if the catalogs were not everywhere from Moss, VB and clones...many old
or NOS parts might be trashed. I read a story years ago about a lady with a
collection of old brass lights from the first autos made...the buyer for them
didn't show up on time, so she paid a bulldozer to run over them...couldn't
sell the brass for scap without getting rid of the glass.
I too think Moss is overpriced, and I've seen some of the poor quality...but
have you prices US stuff lately?
A couple of years ago I inherited a 71 Ford wagon from my mother...would you
believe $140 for a tail light?
If they are too overpriced and have too poor a quality, the marketplace will
fix them and they will disappear. Obviously so far, they've done something
right....
Of course, I'm not a concours guy, and I shop at Home Depot, and buy tires
wholesale whenever I can.
