Adrian:
The 1500 tranny tunnel is slightly wider than the 1275 tunnel, due to the
stock location of the clutch slave cylinder on the left side. You'll see
the bulge by the throttle pedal in your drivers footwell. Also there is a
cutout provided by the factory that gives more access to the tunnel and
U-joints. These are good things. I have a B210 tranny in my 1275 car, most
of the kits are for the later 210 sedan tranny. Space for the transmission
itself is fine, but I had to move the clutch slave cylinder and make a
bracket so that the release arm was positioned 180 degrees from stock,
putting it almost exactly where the 1500 slave cylinder sits. I chose to
cut the cross member out for ease of installation and removal. To get the
engine/transmission in without cutting, I would have had to remove the whole
front clip to reduce the installation angle of the powertrain, and bend the
heater shelf. A de-smogged 1500 engine with a Weber and a header, the stock
transmission in good condition, and a 3.73:1 rear axle make a very enjoyable
combination. I'm not sure I'd expend the effort converting.
