I'm REALLY getting tired of emailing everyone the dumb things I do, but I
might as well give you all a laugh.

This past spring I had the radiator out for something or other (before the
car broke down) and when I reinstalled it, I found I had no antifreeze in
the garage. So I used water and sealant (for the little holes in the
radiator). Last week, I came to realize that I forgot to change the water
out and put antifreeze. Now I can feel that there is NO water in the hoses.
Does that mean the water froze and leaked out? I don't know. It could have
leaked on it's own before freezing. But probably not.

My question is this: What do I need to check to make sure the block is not
ruined? I assume the radiator and heater core are shot, but the radiator
was like a seive anyway and I have a good replacement that I never put in
since the car wasn't running. How good are freeze out plugs? Do they
really work? Come April, the engine and tranny are coming out anyway to
replace the tranny, change the thrust washers, and a few other assorted
items. Should I not worry until then or is there an easy way to tell now?
The engine isn not currently running.

Wiseass remarks will be sumarily ignored, as is the usual policy.

Mike
