Bill,

Check the simple stuff first. I'm guessing which model on which you're
having the problem.

Did you make sure the cylinder is topped up? Is there a rubber hose at the
slave cylinder? If so, it may be swollen shut. The slave cylinder is so far
below the master cylinder, fluid should come out without pumping. Loosen
the hose at the metal line and see if any fluid drips out. I just went
through the same thing on my brake system and swollen rubber lines turned
out to be my problem.

If you're talking about the separate clutch master, I think a thin wall
socket on a long extension will do the trick to reach that bolt.

The master cylinders ususally leak if they are bad though, so if it's not
leaking, this may not be your problem.

On rebuilding the master cylinder, make sure that the bore is not pitted or
you're wasting you time putting new seals in it. Either hone it so there
are no imperfections on the cylinder wall or have it sleeved.
