a moment to reflect (on mirrors)

List,

My 67 Sprite (RIP) had a round torpedo like mirror on the driver side
door. My 68 had no side view mirrors, so in 1984 I received a round fender
mirror (as a gift) which I mounted above the tire.
While I *would* like to focus my attention to that which lies ahead of
me, there is that undeniable need to see whatever might approach from
neighboring lanes.
Although my particular concern is with a Sprite MkIV, what is the
history of the mirrors on Spridgets? Did Spridgets ever roll out of
Abingdon with fender mirrors? At 6' 4", I recall the torpedo-like mirror
being awful to use.
I know I'll begin to look more closely at the photos of your Spridgets
to get ideas.
