Well I understand that you asked where the ballot box was about 20 times.
I figure you kept asking because you didn't want anyone to know you were
stuffing the box.

Now as to why I was late. It's because I didn't have a bicycle cable in
the car. OK.

Really My throttle cable broke less than a third of the way there. Well
it normally breaks at the pinch bolt on the Weber. Well this time it
broke at the soldered nubbin on the end of the cable that goes through
the pedal extension. When it breaks at the carb, I can adjust the linkage
ad get it to work for a while until I can get to the bike shop to get a
new one. When the soldered piece falls off, what can I do on the side of
the road?? I don't normally carry a soldering iron in the trunk. Well
after think - all i need is a little bolt and nut and I can just clamp it
under the pedal rod thingy, I opened the trusty in the trunk tool box and
low and behold what do I find in there??? One o' dem lil' quick no solder
wire connectors and a handy dandy Craftsman Wire crimping tool. So I
threaded that little baby on there and crimped away. And off I went.
About 20 miles later I saw a BMW motorcycle shop. Not know how long my
little crimping job was likely to last I stuck my head in and picked up a
brake cable for a BMW R1200S Absolutely gorgeous bike BTW. A new 2001 was
in the show room. Only the paltry sum of $19,885 kept me from buying it
right then and there. Any way the cable set me back a lousy $12. In the
bike shop I can get the for about $3-4. And it was in a housing. Well I
am already running pretty late so I decide to save the 10 min it takes to
put it in right there and off I go to the Moss Fest. I got there about
1:10 PM and the voting was done at 1:30. Oh Well. I said I never win
anyway.

I walked around to the parts counter get a couple of things, including a
new throttle cable. I need a new one anyway - the housing is coming
apart. Well they have everything I need. EXCEPT a throttle cable. It is
on back order.

Well we stood around and watched all the awards, Including seeing Buff
get one for his VERY low mileage Sprite. (See Allen I saw him!!!) And
then Allen and I took off for PA. I had neglected to stick the new cable
in before leaving, but it is such a simple thing that I decided I would
just chance it. I got all the way home, including stopping by PepBoys for
a few bits. Total miles on the crimped cable?? ~130 miles. Stuck it in
the next morning.

BTW I figured out my 78 Midget must be worth about $7500 or more. Given
that some guy wanted $2200 for his absolutely rusted out piece of not
completely there 75 Midget that has the wrong rusted out sills in it.

At this exact moment in time 9/11/00 10:44 AM, Ajhsys@aol.com made the
profound statement:

>drive was nice...it got a bit warm for the drive home.

>Anyway, I took FIRST PLACE in RB Midget category. Michael G.
>came in what must have been a close second. John G. took third, and
>Larry M. and Bill G. rounded out the field. I figure I won because I was
>the first RB Midget there, and a lot of people got their voting done early.
>But I did tell Michael to paint his car red if he wants to win next year!

>Now, Larry, want to tell the list why you were late to the show?
