Star drives are more likely to drop the iddy-liddle-star-bit into the sump?
Have you ever noticed how the pump drive wears on a pin drive?  Similar
thing on slot drives, but not as bad.  The drive slowly gets worn away
whereas the star drive appears to have a larger contact surface area to
absorb the loads/wear.  Braze the star bit onto the pump or JB it into the
back of the cam?
