While I am neither a Baby Boomer nor a Generation X'er (last I heard, my
age group was still being spared the indignity of such labels), I do
remember listening to old radio shows as a youngster in the early '70's.
I think these were rebroadcast by a regional AM station, maybe WHO in Des
Moines or KMA out of Shenandoah.

Boston Blackie was "friend to those who have no friend, enemy to those
who make him an enemy," while "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar" had an "action
packed expense account." Our local public radio station occasionally
does radio plays, but they lack the simplicity and charm of the old
shows. I now collect reprints of the old shows on cassette; just the
thing to listen to while on the way to work. "The Adventures of Philip
Marlowe" is pretty good, if only for the shameless plugs for Chandler's
works and the no-so-subtle product placements.

Pseudo-LBC content: Sometime I listen to these while driving Miss
Molly....
