Having just done this....we put a couple of heavy towels between the raised
bonnet and the scuttle. I removed the sliding bonnet supports and then four of
the hinge bolts (2 on each side), then loosened the other four while my son held
the bonnet. The bonnet rested securely on the towels while my wife and I held
the sides; one hand in the wheel arch and one hand at the rear. As my son
lowered the front we lifted straight up from the rear and walked it forwards and
set it on a padded dolly. Refitting is the reverse of the above procedure
(sorry, couldn't help myself). A sling does sound like the way to go although
you should still have two other people to guide it.
