Biff,
Were you able to back off the adjusters and remove the screws from the
drums? Did you try a little even distributed heat on the drums after a good
soaking? Pond them both in the on and off direction, but evenly in the
off. This usually works for me, but I've never encountered anything as
"stuck" as you describe except an air pump that had not turned over for
about 25 years. I did get that free though.
