foam pad to the face, apply the vinyl to that, right? Then, I wrap the
vinyl around the bottom and ends, trimming it to fit under the brackets
about 1/2 to 3/4 inch and glue it down. Next, slip on the top edge metal
curve thingy. FOld over the the top of the vinyl, miter folding the ends
and glue about 2 inches worth down from the top before trimming. That's
what it looks like I should do, all based on a 1/2 x 1/2 scrap that was
stuck under the top metal edge at the one corner.>>

Dave:

I assume by brackets, you mean the frames that the vinyl cover goes on, and
that you have these in usable shape underneath. In general, you have it
right on. I covered both sides of the face with vinyl, padding only the
outside with 1/4" foam. Don't use anything like staples in this
installation, as your hands will pay. The bottom and side edges are recessed
to fit around the door metal, and you can tuck the vinyl into the recess and
glue it with the help of some ski rope, air line, or other flexible round
stuff stuffed into the recess and pulled out for installation. The four
screws visible from the outside are the only thing holding it in, and
particularly the ones at the top are difficult to keep there--the nuts keep
falling off into the door.

Our interior picture on Ed's website shows how I did ours, with the original
sculpting that you can't duplicate with modern vinyl. These are in two
pieces, with the part below the beading being glued to the front and treated
as the "bottom". I actually "covered" the paper part that defined the
sculpting in the original door.

Incidentally, have been trying to get a chance to see your car, but have a
problem here that keeps rearing its ugly head. Will keep trying.
