I just received my May 2002 issue of British Marque Car Club News and in it,
by Chris Ball, credited to the Triumph TR6 website, is a list of typical color
codes used in wiring by Lucas, The Prince of Darkness. They are as follows:
Brown: Main feed from the battery. No switches or fuses
White: Ignition circuit. Again with no switches or fuses
Green: Idgnition circuit, but this time WITH fuses and or switches in the
line
Blue: Headlights
Red: Taillights and side markers
Black: A straight ground
Yellow: Generator connection wired through the ignition
Main color/stripe color
Brown/yellow: Generator to voltage regulator
Brown/blue: Ignition switch to voltage regulator
White/red: Ignition switch to the starter solenoid and starter switch to
starter solenoid
Green/purple: Brake lights
Blue/white: High beams
Blue/red: Low beams
Red/white: dash lights
Chirs ends with the caveat these are general rule of thumbs! And I further
state that I have no responsibility whatsoever for the accuracy of anything
that I have ever written, publicly or privately. So don't call me if this
ain't right!!!!!
