I think I finally fixed my fuel pump.
The 5th one seems to be fine. But so was the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for about
a week each.
I bought a new US made electric and it works. My last chinese made new
one lasted about a week so I told the counter man I don't care what it
looks like, or how much it costs, just that it is not made in india,
china, or taiwan.
My 2nd pump, an SU home rebuild has a leaky plastic nipple fitting.
My 3rd was the NAPA import special
4th was another home rebuilt SU but it seems the points were out of
adjustment. After I replaced the pump with the new one, I took the SU
apart and it was just a simple adjustment. That figures. BUT.....
Before replacing the pump for the 5th time in as many weeks, I dropped
the tank just to make sure all was OK in there. It was clean, the screen
pick up was clean, but I did find a leaky sending unit gasket so all was
not lost.
I guess I'll know in about a week if it is OK. It seems I have fuel pump
troubles every Sunday!
