I use downflows exclusivly. I always had problems with cross flows,
usually because of the mounting set up they have and that cross over
pipe.
I also only run 1275s. Did Spridgets come with any other engine? ;)
I have had a few hot days lately but they are due to the very tiny air
intake hole on the Speedwell bonnet. I never had any problems till i
swapped bonnets.
190* on a 95* day in traffic was the worst.
BUT, coming home from the PA rally, my temp did hit the 100 psi mark on
the oil pressure gauge. I let it cool to 212 and hit the road again.
I removed the electric fan (installed with the new bonnet) and I have
not exceeded 200 since. Today about 80* I was all over and running hard
on the Parkway, I did not exceed 190*
I was going to do a bit of work on the cooling system today but my wife
said let's go to Atlantic City instead.
