1940 the last year GM had podmounted headlights. 1941 they began integration
into the fender. too bad it's not a '42 as the '42 models are very
desireabledue to limited production before all civilian production halted
for the war effort. even the "military" versionsare rare.
i have evrything here to do a 1956 chevy recruiters car if i ever get a 2100
series 4 dr sedan with 235 cu. in. 6 cylinder and 3 on the tree that is
restorable. i stripped a car in a salvage yard that was complete. i
photographed it and removed all military nomenclature plates and military
specific modifications! that is a long time dream for me to own! a
military '56 chevy in olive drab with all the white stenciling on it. that
is a car that has not been done and done again by the 55-57 chevy crowd. i
have been quietly sitting on this material for years searching for a good
candidate to do this car! the cowel tag is hand punched "off the assembly
line" and where paint code belongs it is stamped "SPEC.". very-very unique
by standards of that era.

chuck.
some sleep but still burned out.
