Yeah, your're right! Cleaned the engine
of any metallic debris as you drove, didn't
you, while dumping the oil on the move!
Very funny, man! I can say that now since it seems to be ok. Phew!! :)

As I understand it, when oil level begins
to drop below more than a bit off the
max mark, the first place that begins
to take a hit in this respect IS the
upper end or rocker assembly. Maybe
Gerard can chime in on this?

Well, with mechanical tappets you are
definitely gonna hear them even when
they are adjusted properly. You should
hear my 1.5's @ .018 for the Cooper "S"
cam. Christ, even at my experience level I
thought my new engine was coming apart
at first. They've quieted down a bit over
break-in but you wouldn't believe the
noise initially at 4,000rpm! Thought for
sure bearings. It was that loud, really.

Well, an inspection of the rocker arm
assembly, springs, etc. may definitely
be in the cards. What the hell, might
as well do a valve adjustment as part
of the upper end inspection for possible
damage anyway.

All in all though, it appears for now that you lucked out and this is
GOOD! :)

So you lost 2 of the inverted oil systems
in the Citibria. That's already one too
many but 2? Geeze, didn't know they
made the thing so you could qualify
for your glider certificate along with aerobatics!! :) 

They have an AD out on this system, or
what, Paul? Sounds like they ought to.
