You should be able to swap in a points distributor from a squaretail
Spitfire, from 1971 on. The 1971 Mark 4 Spit had the new 1296 motor,
which is the same casting as the 1500 Spit/Midget motor, same distributor
drive gear on the cam, etc. I seem to recall there is some minor difference
between the distributor drives on the early small journal 1296 and the later
large journal 1296 motors, and that a distributor from the Spit 1147 or
early 1296 needs something done to it to get it to work in a 1500 block.
I could be wrong, though, it may be a simple swap.

There could be an issue of mechanical tach drive versus electric as well,
something else to keep in mind while shopping for a used distributor.
